My name is Angelique. I officially age every 20 November since 1988. I live in secular, multi-racial, multi-religious, tiny Singapore where too much of the workforce is too busy to have sex.
This blog chronicles moments I want to remember. It is my emotional piggy bank; it is all the chicken soup I've ever brewed in preparation for the inevitable shitty moments in life. I am a Constructive Pessimist, which in Angelique-speak means that I expect worst-case scenarios to happen, so that outcomes will be either anticipated or pleasantly surprising. Expect the worst; save yourself the disappointment.
I tend to blurt out random lines that may very well be the continuation of a conversation I had had with someone back in 1998. On most days I am head over heels in love with myself. I also love caffeine, dark chocolate, money, snow, pool, the Internet, roller coasters, horse-riding, long-haul flights with turbulence, pink, and Sunday, which is my royal Get up and Ready Eons After Teatime day. I detest tobacco, mushrooms, war, and Bush.
Buried within me is a closet geek who believes that if men and women communicated in languages as beautifully precise as html or mathematics, break-ups would possibly become a thing of the past. Though I subscribe to existentialism, my worldview remains predominantly 'www'. My favourite vulgarity is 'double you tee eff'.
I am pink. I am the proud owner of huge eyebags. I am short but tall enough, fat but thin enough, happy but disgruntled enough, pacifist but assertive enough, wild but cautious enough, observant but self-absorbed enough. I am nothing and I am everything.
I am alive.
(I still believe pigs can fly.
I don't have to see to believe;
they only fly when I'm not looking.)
